The Triliteral Stageplay Festival represents a chance for aspiring stagewriters to have their work performed in Nottingham venues and thereby reach a much larger audience. The brainchild of Daniel Hallam and Richie Garton of Halden Theatre and Richard Pilgrim of the Nottingham Writers’ Studio, the Festival is open to anyone in the UK; no matter your age or background, if you have a script in your head, we want to read it!

There is a definite element of competition involved in Triliteral. We will be performing a total of nine new plays over three days in June 2010, and only the very best ones will be selected for performance by Halden Theatre. We are interested in plays of all genres, from tragedies and thrillers to farces and satires. We are not looking for any features in particular; just good quality, original scripts which will showcase Nottingham’s creative talent and make for excellent viewing.

We are hoping to make Triliteral an annual event, and put Nottingham on the artistic map. If your script is one of the successful nine, you may well go down in history. Be part of something, be Triliteral!

The Process

  • Members of Halden Theatre will shortlist a selected number of the stageplays we receive

  • These plays will be passed to an independent panel of judges, who will conduct second readings and narrow the list down further

  • Halden Theatre will conduct final readings and select nine stageplays for performance

  • Halden Theatre will then cast professional and semi-professional actors along with a professional director.
  • If you are successful, we will contact you and invite you to attend rehearsals for your play.

Good Luck!
